Freight Capacity Manager

The Capacity Manager is responsible for driving net profits by brokering and dispatching as much freight as possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Finding and securing the equipment necessary to service the customers needs
  • Maximize Profit by negotiating transportation expense
  • Scheduling appointments at shipper and receiver
  • Track and trace each load daily
  • Tracking freight per specific customer protocol requirements(eg, software, email, call) and working to prevent common problems before they arise
  • Review problems immediately and contact Account Manager for problems that need assistance
  • Monitor freight for on time pickup and delivery
  • Entering data for Electronic Data Interchange
  • Obtaining necessary documentation for accessorial charges
  • OS&D procedures (eg overage, shortage, deductions) – Coordinate with Customer for proper disposition
  • Follow up on all loose ends
  • Close out all loads accurately through McLeod Software
  • Hold Account Manager Accountable to their weekly goals
  • Perform at least 100 calls per day to potential carriers and for specific opportunities for existing carriers.
  • Active learning and understanding of the Market
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned or required

Cross Functional Interaction

  • Work with A/R on non-pays, short-pays, etc.
  • Assist Billing with incorrect paperwork issues and PODs from carriers and owner operators
  • Carrier Compliance
  • Claims
